Network LifeSaver® x8 Overview

Step 1: Connect the NLS to Up to Eight Different Devices

network lifesaver unitThe Network LifeSaver x8 can monitor up to eight different devices with independent AC power control over your network. All you need to do is plug your main power feeds into the Network LifeSaver and then plug each device into its own power socket. You also will have the extra protection of two resettable circuit breakers in case of a power overload.

Step 2: Create Network Tests

Using the Test Designer function found within the Administration Setup Software, you can design up to 52 tests to perform on your eight different devices. These tests are used to monitor the functions of your servers or any other TCP-aware device. Building a comprehensive set of network tests for your company is easy and can be done in minutes using the Test Designer. An example is a web server test that is performed by opening Port 80 on your web server and sending an HTTP request. The Network LifeSaver will wait a specified amount of time for the web server's response and then analyze the return data to assess whether the device is functioning correctly.

Step 3: Build Your Control Room

The power of the Network LifeSaver is harnessed within the Control Room Builder Application. Using the Control Room Builder, you create your own custom software monitoring system that can communicate with up to 1,000 Network LifeSavers and continuously display your network's status. With each Network LifeSaver monitoring up to eight devices, you'll have the ability to monitor up to 8,000 devices with one application! The Control Room Builder lets you design any custom look to fit your needs. It is ideal for building your own 24-hour-per-day monitoring center.

Step 4: Go Live

Once you have your Network LifeSavers running and your Control Room Monitoring System built, you can sit back and stop worrying about your network's health. Leave the office and know that you can securely control your networks using your laptop or Pocket PC wireless device. The Network LifeSaver uses its own hardware-based encryption communication system to ensure that only you can access them remotely.

When the Network LifeSaver senses a failure, you will be instantly notified by e-mail. The Network LifeSaver can send an alert e-mail to your cell phone or pager. You can use your cell phone or laptop to restart, shutdown, or control the AC power of each server. No longer will you have to rush to the office to restart a failed server.

If the device recovers, the Network LifeSaver will send you an e-mail verifying the recovery. It will then wait until the next test cycle and send an additional e-mail to confirm that the device is continuing to run properly. This feature is invaluable because it eliminates any doubt about the status of your server.

The power of a custom hardware/software enterprise network monitoring system is yours with the Network LifeSaver x8.
