- Over $123 Million in Sales by JAC Merchants
in 2001!
Monday, January 14, 2002
Looking back at the year 2001, one might not anticipate much growth in
online business. To the contrary, according to Gartner, online sales in
2001 grossed $42 billion, which is up 44% from the year before.
With over $123 million in sales through the JAC Transaction Networks in
2001, merchants using JustAddCommerce as their online shopping cart made
up .3% of that total $42 billion volume. By contrast, in the year 2000,
JAC merchants processed $55.7 million in sales, putting JAC’s growth
within that 44% increase in 2001.
JustAddCommerce, the secured shopping-cart plug in for either FrontPage
or Dreamweaver, is the flagship product of Rich Media Technologies, Inc.
The growth of JAC merchants and the volume of sales they do continue to
increase at a healthy and stable rate. According to Gartner, online sales
will likely grow still more in 2002. JAC merchants can also look forward
to increased sales and profits.
Online sales are alive and well for JustAddCommerce merchants!
- Does Your Online Store Generate Customer
Confidence?
Monday, January 14, 2002
It is a well-known fact that the best source of new customers is your
current customer base. What makes a new customer shop your online store?
Certainly, it has to do with your products, how you market to the public,
and your service. But what makes a customer come back to shop your store
on a repeat basis? The same three points mentioned above--products, marketing,
service--plus the feeling of confidence in your business.
How do you generate customer confidence? Sometimes the simple answers
are the ones we overlook. Here is an important hint for generating customer
confidence for your e-commerce store:
Does your store information appear throughout your web site? When your
customer receives his email confirmation of an order, do you include
your store name, address, phone, fax and email? Just like a "brick
and mortar" store, your online store must be easily identified and
recognized by your customer. Personal messages in the email confirmation
are the substitute for the face-to-face relationship of a standard retail
store.
When you thank the customer for shopping at your online store and include
your company contact information, it is like handing your customer a
business card. You are affirming your e-commerce store as a tangible
business and inviting them to contact you again, whether it concerns
questions about your order or inviting them to shop with you again. If
they have confidence in your store, they are more likely to refer your
store to their friends.
- JAC Offers the "Best of Both Worlds"!
Wednesday, August 29, 2001
JustAddCommerce is the ultimate shopping cart software/service that
offers you and your customers the “Best of Both Worlds”.
Explaining this statement is as simple as A – B – C!
A. The most common form of shopping cart is the off-the-shelf program.
This is software that is added to the merchant's web site to provide
the method of taking and processing orders. The important point to remember
about this type of shopping cart is that it attaches to the merchant's
web site and is also hosted with the merchant's ISP or hosting company.
Because the shopping cart is hosted by the ISP, there are often requirements
(server-side) that the ISP must have to host the shopping cart with the
merchant's web site. There are both advantages and disadvantage to this
type of shopping cart. The biggest advantage is probably the ability
of the merchant to design his web site with few restrictions, to give
his online store a unique look. There may or may not be limitations to
the number of products the merchant can display and sell on his web site,
depending upon the ISP's requirements and limitations. A big disadvantage
is that the ISP hosting the merchant's web site and shopping cart would
not have redundant servers, which means that the web site could be off
line more often. If the ISP's servers are down, the merchant's online
store is not available to the public. The biggest disadvantage, however,
is that this type of shopping cart resides on servers shared by hundreds
of companies, leaving their customer's information (including credit
card information) vulnerable to a multitude of individuals sharing the
server network. It is also commonly known that active server pages are
most susceptible to hacking and theft of information.
B. The other form of shopping cart is the type that interfaces or interacts
with the merchant's web site but is not hosted on the merchant's ISP's
servers-the shopping cart itself is actually hosted on the servers of
the shopping cart software company. In the early stages of e-commerce,
this type of shopping cart was only developed and offered by larger companies,
such as Yahoo! Store, Amazon zShops, bCentral, BigStep, etc. This form
of shopping cart is usually developed in more complex computer languages
by engineers, rather than programmers. There are advantages and disadvantages
to this type of shopping cart. The biggest isadvantage would probably
be the fact that most merchants using this type of software/service would
have to design their web sites using set templates, thereby making their
store look like every other one using the same system. Another disadvantage
is that there is often a limit to the number of products a merchant can
display and sell on his web site. A big advantage is that because these
are generally larger companies, their servers would be redundant so there
would be less down time for the merchants sites to be off line. Redundancy
may mean simply more servers in the same building to multiple servers
in different parts of the country, which is true redundancy. The biggest
advantage is that this type of shopping cart resides on Network servers
that are dedicated to that purpose and are less susceptible to hacking
and loss of information.
C. JustAddCommerce is a hybrid between these two types of shopping carts,
combining the advantages of both systems, offering the "best of
both worlds". JAC is closer in design to the second type of shopping
cart (b)-those designed by engineers with the shopping cart residing
on our Network and not the merchant's ISP. The proprietary JAC Transaction
Network was designed by degreed engineers and is a truly redundant system.
The advantage that was taken from the first type of shopping cart (a)
is the flexibility of designing the web site and online store any way
the merchant wants, without requiring the use of templates or placing
limitations on the number of products displayed and sold. A very big
advantage to the JAC software/service is that the merchant can host his
web site with any ISP because there are no requirements for the server
side of the ISP.
Shouldn’t you and your customers have the “Best of Both
Worlds”? With JustAddCommerce as your secure shopping cart, it
is possible.
